Lessons from Tony Robbins - Part 2

Updated: May 30

Life is about success and failures. Throughout our lives, we often ask if there is a formula for success. Surely someone has figured out how to make the most out of it and how to attract success. Tony Robbins, who is a motivational speaker, shares with us a little secret on how to have success.

Let us explore the components of his formula.

Know your outcome

Goals have to be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-bound (SMART). Knowing where you want to go will be the first component of success. You just don’t go looking for success everywhere. You need to know where to look for it. A goal will help point you in the right direction.

Your goals should have a reason behind it, and the reason should be something that you can strongly relate to on an emotional level. If your goal is to build a business and the reason behind it is just to earn money, there is no emotional driver to attain your goal. If you say that your reason is to earn money to provide for your family then there is that emotional connection. The importance of the emotional connection of your goal and the reason behind it will be key to how much effort you give towards achieving your goals.

Take Massive Action

Do not take little action, take big steps instead. Going all out should be your primary mode. Remember that your goal is both measurable and time-bound. You will need to take massive actions to make it to your goal, and you need to do them now because your goals are time-bound. Every day you delay is one more day that you will not reach your goals. Take action now and make them big steps.

When you take actions towards reaching your goals, then you will see whether what you are doing works or not. Stop and take notice of the results that your actions have. Does it get me closer to my goal or not? Any good action plan will have a review phase to see if your actions are working or if you have better options for reaching your goals.

Readjusting will happen after you notice the results of your actions. If you think that the results are going well then there is no need to readjust. If the results don’t meet up to your expectations then you should consider readjusting your plan of action. Look for options and see if you can get better results. It can be as simple as tweaking your actions a little bit or it can be revising the whole plan to achieve the results you want. Remember that no plan is perfect and there will always be room for improvement. So go ahead and feel free to improvise when the situation calls for it.

So there you have it, five simple steps to success. Remember always be open to changes in your plans. The emphasis of this formula is taking action; massive action at that. A dream will stay a dream if you don’t do something to make it a reality.
