On planet earth, anything that is living, is either growing or dying. Whether that is plants bugs, birds, bears or humans.
This principle also applies to businesses.
Usually, when a business starts, the owner is passionate and inspired about their enterprise. They work long hours for very little money without a second thought. Everything is new and challenging, frightening, and exciting all at once.
Then over time as the business owner begins to work a few things out, the initial energy levels begin to fall away and can be replaced by frustration and fatigue, with questions as to why they began their journey in business in the first place.
If this is you, you are not alone. EVERY business owner experiences this from time to time, no matter how long they have been in business.
So how do you know if you are growing or dying?
Think about plants, if it's growing its green, the branches are strong and they look healthy and vital and it's increasing in size, maybe the plant is producing healthy fruit or vegetables or flowers.
If your business growing, you will also have great outcomes for your clients, who will pay you accordingly with a happy team, and you as the owner are healthy and vital.
If you feel like you may be dying, how can you turn that around?
Firstly, you must take ownership of where you are and resolve to do something different. Don’t blame others or the environment or make excuses. As humans we can get up and move and do things differently, we are not trees stuck in one place.
A business reflects the owner. You need to look in the mirror and ask yourself some hard questions about what you need to change about yourself for your business to change. Maybe you need to read some books or do some courses to get new information to act on or consider joining your local chamber of commerce.
